Thats a poor design, no offense. But its better than nothing I suppose. You need to read "Maximum Boost" by Corky Bell. It tells how a cone shaped duct, with an opening no more than 2/3 the surface area of the IC core, is best. So if your IC core is 9x9, you have 18 square inches. 2/3 of 18 is 12, so the opening on the duct would be optimal as a 6x6. This is so air wont go in it the revert and go the way it came in, thus not cooling anything, the right way you utilize the air behind it to force it through the intercooler. But, like you said, you have primitive tools, so I guess it should be good enough. :)
